As the Managing Attorney for Grabhorn Law, Michael Grabhorn has dedicated his legal career to helping individuals and families whose insurance and ERISA claims have been unfairly denied by insurance companies. Mr. Grabhorn is a recognized national authority in the area of life and disability insurance claims, whether subject to state insurance law or to ERISA. He regularly represents individuals across the United States, whether at the claim and appeal stage, or in court.
In addition to his extensive experience and knowledge as an insurance and ERISA attorney, Mr. Grabhorn also brings a very unique set of qualifications to each case. Mr. Grabhorn spent over 20 years working in the insurance industry – first as an insurance agent tasked with selling life and disability insurance, then as a consultant to the insurance industry on the design and marketing of insurance products, and finally as a national instructor for insurance agent/broker training and ethics. During his time in the insurance industry, Mr. Grabhorn was recognized and certified by the American College as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and as a Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) – a distinction conveyed on a very small number of practicing insurance and ERISA attorneys. His wealth of insurance industry experience and knowledge allows Mr. Grabhorn to identify issues and claims that many other attorneys typically miss or overlook.
Professionally, Mr. Grabhorn is licensed to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and regularly appears across the United States to represent his clients with long-term disability insurance, life insurance, and ERISA claims. As part of his efforts to remain on the leading edge of insurance and ERISA law, Mr. Grabhorn is a regular contributing writer for the Employee Benefits Law treatise, the primary resource for insurance and ERISA claim attorneys (published by the ABA Section of Labor and Employment and BNA Books). Further, he is frequently invited to speak on legal issues involving insurance and ERISA claims – with his presentations often made to other attorneys looking to become better educated on how to better prepare and pursue more successful insurance and ERISA claims.
